My Story So Far

This year has, as cliché as it may sound, been the most memorable chapter of my life, thus far. It has made me grow as a person, in ways I never thought possible. It has shown me the good, the bad and the ugly. It has changed me, for what I pray is for the better.

But this journey of mine does not end here. I will continue to leave my footprints in the sand, to soar as high as I can, and to live without regret. All I can do is recollect 18 years of experiences and memories, and make more to add into my sack.

As I peer into the near future, I see so much of change in line for me. 2009 will be an experience quite unlike any other.

So from a week which started in one year and which will end in the next, I shall continue penning this story of mine. And I don't see myself running out of ink anytime soon.

Happy New Year. May you be the best that you can be.

Artwork of the Week: Dedicated to Victims of the '04 Tsunami

Another Friday, another post (but this is no ordinary Friday). Anyway, it is so very strange how when I was reviewing possible pieces to put up here, the ones that really caught my eye were riddled with images of the ocean in all its form.

Call that chance, or whatever you may, but I feel otherwise. So, in memory of the many many thousands who lost their lives in the 2004 Boxing Day malady that was the tsunami, I present to you this week's piece of art that struck something, somewhere, somehow.

P.S. I really could use this guy's work every single week because it is so stunningly beautiful, but I try my best to diversify the pictures. Also, please do no forget to tell me how you interpret this piece, or anything really, about this work of art.

What the Funk

Haha, I came across this on Tracy's blog.

So how hobo-like do I look?

(Btw, this picture was taken at the start of the year)

Nocturne

Since I'm on holiday, I have the liberty of being nocturnal. And boy, I'm in my element. I guess a career in medicine, what with all the odd working hours and all, will suit me perfectly.

Here I share with you a poem I once studied in my Literature in English class. The title seems apt, or apt enough to describe my lifestyle.

nocturne
Muhammad Haji Salleh
tonight we have the sea
and sky to help us live.
the winds that blow from behind us
persuade us to go into the future,
tell us not to fear
tranquility or difference.
late tonight we borrow the music of nature
to mend the rhythm of our souls
newly broken by the pace of machines
i hold your hand
to marry my body to your lucidity.
in this dawn
we find a world
that understand us.
we string our experiences
as proof of our humanness.

Artwork of the Week

I know its not Friday, but seeing as to how I missed last Friday's posting, here is this week's artwork of the week.

This piece depicts so much imagery and is so potently truthful in these times.

Please do leave comments on what you think of this picture, and what it does to you. Its really welcoming to hear how one single picture can mean so many different things to various individuals. That my friend, is the beauty of art.

Double Frick

Well, in my previous post I had mentioned that my SACE results were going to be released on Monday, and this conclusion of mine was drawn after multiple visits to the SSABSA website.

HOWEVER, these sneaky mofos cleverly decided to be so very vague about things. So after putting me through a sleepless night of turmoil, I discover that my marks are going to be out tomorrow, on Wednesday, at 8.30 a.m. South Australian time which is at 6.00 a.m. here in Penang.

So tomorrow is really THE DAY.

Wish me luck, people!

Frick

I recently found out that my SACE results, which everyone thought was going to be out next Thursday, is going to be released on Monday, the 15th of December. Dude, thats in like 5 days or something. Weak man. Totally weak.

I shall return to panic mode shortly.

On a side note however, my WiFi router has just decided not to work, so I have to rely on my brother's computer to use the internet. This might explain why I haven't posted anything here in almost a week.

Have a nice day =)

Artwork of The Week

I'm about an hour late, but here it is. I think the best thing I like about this piece is its title. And the fact that its really really cool.

Please do leave comments on what you think of this picture, and what it does to you.

Your Momma Really Should've Told Ya

I just don't quite seem to understand why people use the word 'random' so loosely.

Seriously. Omg. Wtf. Bbq. Osama. Random.

Some people
(see how I'm not generalising, here *halo*), after careful deliberation, find it so very necessary to flaunt their seemingly flawless command of English, by using 'random' at the whim, in a conversation.

Sebagai contoh:

Randomboi68: Like, how random is it that the sky is randomly blue today?

Beyonce Knowles: If I were a boy, I'd be a better man.

Randomboi68: How random of you.

Beyonce Knowles: Your English is impeccable. Marry me!!!

Randomboi68: Randommmmmmmm. [*I am so effin clever*]

I have nothing more to say here. So watch this totally random video.

Mumbai Massacre

In wake of the recent events that have plagued the capital of India, my thoughts and prayers go out to all the victims and their families.

Lets observe a moment of silence to pay respects to all who are suffering.

*moment of silence*

It is truly unfortunate, or disgusting rather, that even though we as a populace have moved on to such great heights in our evolution, things like this continue to push us to our own demise.

God bless us all.

Artwork of the Week: A Prologue

This is just something I've been meaning to do since I've started my blog. So I shall get to it.

This shall be a weekly section which will be published every Friday (hopefully), in which I will showcase a particular piece of art that has piqued my interest.

And as I write this, I am quite certain that I will not adhere to these terms (see, now you know a little more about me *wink wink*).

It may be a piece that has made me smile, made me think, or has raised my eyebrows.

It may be in vivid colour, or exclusively black and white.

It may be a painting, a photograph, a song or a poem.

Nothing is off limits, as art is well, art.

I may come back to an older post far off in the future and possibly hate every aspect of it, but that's basically what this section is about.

It will show something that at some point of time in my life, has caught my attention, for some reason or another.

So to commemorate the start of this section, let me share with you a piece of work that to me, seems to signify the dawn of a new beginning.

Springtime

There's a tune in the air, of bittersweet rasps,
It wisps through your hair, without many a grasp.

A rhapsody of song, it neighs, it prongs,
Poignant it may be, its seemingly wrong.
Your mask of tears, of woe, of fear,
Diffuses through the melody, it makes it unclear.

Tangerines of scent, they twitter and fly,
Now look, dainty maid, at the butterflies cry.

Curls and furls of unjust lust,
Poof, these tendrils, they turn into dust.
We had our secret recipe, my delicious wife,
But time has come, where I shall sample your life.

I Now Have A Blog

Hello and welcome. I now have a blog.

Yes, I know, its very unlike me. This coming from a guy who swore he'd never get one. But don't get me wrong here, I still stand by my belief that blogs are totally gay and most of the ones that I have read are stupid beyond belief. So so stupid.

However, after a conversation I had with a friend some time back, it got me thinking. Having a blog makes it that much easier to keep in touch with friends that you come across along the way. I mean, how often is it that you actually meet up with the people that were
once an integral part of your life?

As the tides turn, and the winds shift, I shall go against my word of never setting up one, in the name of change (that's the only way I'm going to justify this).

So hello and welcome. Brace yourself for an experience quite unlike any other, for I now have a blog. =)
